Get Walking Day 2011 (15/5/11)

Best wishes to all the Ramblers volunteers organising the 150+ Get
Walking Day events this weekend.

I've been helping out with a Family Adventure Trail in Victoria Park
in East London, with the Ramblers volunteers and staff who run the
local Get Walking Keep Walking scheme.

Families have been hunting around the park for clues to a puzzle - and
along the way there's been bug hunts, face painting, mask making, and
the like. A great way to encourage families to get into the outdoors
and enjoy walking. Activities for the children are often the secret
ingredients to involving families.

Victoria Park was established on land donated by Queen Victoria, to
help improve the health and well-being of people in the East End. So
it's a fitting location for the adventure trail today.

I hope all the other events are going well.
